Crispy Baked Tofu Vegan Wings... YES PLEASE!

Tofu definitely has an acquired taste and over the last few months I have been experimenting with a few different recipes and this by far is one of my favs! These tofu wings are not the epitome of health and fitness but are vegan and delicious!

Ingredients List

  • Extra Firm Tofu
  • Plant Milk
  • Cornstarch
  • Franks Hot Sauce
  • Vegan Butter
  • Breadcrumbs

Get your station set up!

You will need paper towels ( or clean dish cloth), three medium mixing bowls, a baking tray and tinfoil. Cover the baking tray with tinfoil, add your plat milk to one bowl, cornstarch to the second and breadcrumbs to the third bowl.

As you're getting your station set up, PRESS YOUR TOFU! You can purchase a tofu press on Amazon but I just wrap my tofu in paper towel or a clean dish cloth and pile whatever heavy pantry items I can find on top. Leave for 5 or so minutes, then flip the tofu and put the items back on for a few more minutes to get as much of the water out as you can.

In the bowl with the breadcrumbs add a few of your favourite spices (The first time I made this recipe I only used chilli powder and cayenne pepper) and my wings were fire sticks! WAY too hot! The second time I used chilli powder, cumin and paprika and they were more flavourful weren't as hot.

Let's get cooking!

Get those wings in the oven!

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. Cut the tofu into strips
  3. Cover in corn starch, dip in plant milk and roll in breadcrumb mixture
  4. Place on baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, flip and bake again for 10 minutes (or until crispy)

Let's get saucy!

I used Franks but you can use whichever hot sauce is your go to, you can also use BBQ or even honey garlic to coat these bad boys. If you use Franks, add some  melted vegan butter to tame the sauce and make it a little bit creamier. Once your wings are done in the oven, coat them in whichever sauce is your preference and enjoy!
